MINI BIO

Marmalade is a jewellery company run by owner/maker Kate Singer out of her studio in downtown Toronto, Canada. Kate has been working alongside her husband Dave (photographer, boothbuilder, general task-doer, co-parent), and their 2 children Amelia and Ari (the inspiration!) to continuously grow her business, and develop a uniquely personal, well-crafted jewellery line. Because all of the jewellery is locally made in our studio, Marmalade is able to offer a wide assortment of designs and imagery. Select charms that are meaningful to you, and we will create your finished piece, package it in our handmade wooden box, and ship it your doorstep! Marmalade takes pride in using local production for its casting needs, and employing graduates from the local Jewellery Arts program in the studio. From the die maker who handmakes our paper cutting dies out of his garage, to the stampmaker, who makes our custom stamps in his shop just down the street; we have benefitted from so many skilled tradespeople and make it our mission to keep traditional handmade processes thriving in our local economy. To this end, we are avid users of our local makerspace, where Dave uses shared machinery to build our custom displays and laser-cut gift boxes. We believe that jewellery is a very personal item, and understand that wearers develop a strong connection with their pieces. We choose to work in sterling silver and bronze to ensure a lasting product, and one that will continue to grow richer with age.
