Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Christie is a self-taught artist who began her artistic journey at 50, during the pandemic. Her stylized still life work is influenced by her background in beauty, fashion, advertising & writing, reflecting her love of both aesthetics and story-telling. From her home studio in Toronto, ON, Christie creates vibrant explorations of mixed media. Combining acrylic paint, ink, graphite, grease pencil, and pastels, her still life paintings delve into themes of femininity and strength. By elevating mundane items perceived as feminine - vases, flowers, house plants, and produce - she transforms ordinary objects of domesticity into something extraordinary, challenging traditional domestic narratives.
