Artisan Profile

Every piece in my studio is cut, stamped, stitched, and finished by hand in Toronto. Most of my cutting is done by hand with a blade, which lets me read each hide and place every piece where the leather is strongest. I use dies where they make sense for consistency, but the work starts and ends with my hands. Every stitch is sunk in by me, one at a time, so the thread sits snug and even in the leather instead of riding on top of it. I’m a self-taught leatherworker, and I came to the craft the slow way: learning by making, ruining a few good hides, and gradually understanding how leather behaves under a knife, a needle, and a press. That patience is still the point of the work.

My style draws on Japanese and French luxury leathercraft, where the quality lives in the details you feel more than see: skived edges, even saddle stitching, burnished surfaces, and clean, deliberate proportions. I would rather make a small number of things properly than a large number quickly.

You’ll find keychains, coasters, straps, pouches, and small accessories, each made to be carried daily and to age well. Leather rewards use, so the pieces are built to develop a patina over the years instead of wearing out. Come by the booth, handle the leather, and ask me how anything is made.
