After taking one of these photographs I spend weeks studying it for imagery that I see emanating from the natural form. Then I begin to very subtly define what I see with paints on the surface of the photograph. On the back of each hand signed Earthprint I include the full numbered list of all of the hidden imagery that I have interpreted. If what you see isn’t on the list on the back... it is your own imagination. I intentionally leave room to inspire that to happen.

Earthen Sculptures

The time that a sculptor might spend carving a stone I spend in nature searching for a stone that is carved over millions of years by the natural elements. I have no control over what I see in the stone but if it is speaking to me strongly I feel it is meant for someone like you. My gift is in revealing what I see and I’ve learned that less is more with the oil paints that I use to define the features in the stone. I search for unique refined pieces of driftwood smoothed by the element of water that I use to cradle the stone for display. When this truly unique one of a kind art piece is in your home it will enrich your space with the spirit of the land. It will impart it’s ancient wisdom over time and remind you that are never alone. You are always a part of and will reflect in everything surrounding you in the natural world.

Passage

In the summer of 2017 I was asked by French River Provincial Park to come to the park and exhibit my work and interact with their visitors. They hoped that while I was there, I would capture an image from their park that would inspire me. I followed this opportunity and it lead me to my new image that I will unveil at the One of a Kind Spring Show 2018 called Ã¢â‚¬Å“PassageÃ¢â‚¬Â.

Spirit Path

It started with a vision in a dream. A pathway with imagery emanating all around it. On the autumnal equinox of 2007 I set out with my camera to find it. When I took this photograph I knew right away that I had captured my dream. I used a subtle approach with oil paints to enhanced 47 visions that came to me when studying its natural form. By drawing the viewer into the process of searching for visions. I hope to inspire your own.

Sacred Mountains

I was asked by The Canada Parks Council to be artist in residence at the 2016 Canadian Parks Summit. The summit was a meet of the minds for 200 delegates across the country in parks and environmental organization to encourage a connection with the natural world. They thought my work was doing just that! While I was there I had the opportunity to photograph the 3 Sisters mountain range. A year later I donated my painting" Sacred Mountains" at an Canada Parks auction event as an offering to give back.

Stare Away

Cascade of Light

On the summer solstice I set out to capture this Image of a waterfall along the escarpment near Milton Ontario. Then I began to use oil paints on the surface of the photograph to enhance what I saw in its natural form. I brought out more than 140 images for the viewer to discover.

Rose Angel

On the summer solstice of 2008. My quest was to capture a vision in the petals of a rose with my camera. I discovered it when exploring the beautiful gardens of the Peterborough Garden Tour. I used oil paints on the surface of the photograph to reveal my vision.

16x24 and 24x36 Plak Flush Mounted Earthprints

These archival photographs are dry-mounted onto a 1/8” Masonite board. A ¾” wood box frame is mounted onto the back of the masonite board flush with the outside edges. The surface of the plak is then completely sealed under heat and pressure with a tough, durable, non-glare transparent laminate adding to protect the image from fading and scratching also making it easy to clean. The edges are then finished in black and the finished prints are slotted on the back making them ready to hang and enjoy.
