Sirius Glassworks is a Legacy Studio and one of the longest running blown glass studios in Canada ~ due to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026. The studio is owned by Creative director, Iris Fraser-Gudrunas, the daughter of founders Peter Gudrunas and Doris Fraser. Sirius makes classic vessel work for every day use. Iris designs work based on the lineage of forms and recurring motifs that are indicative of the studio's history, while also introducing new concepts like the popular Nassau Series. Nassau was inspired by a group of peer artists in Toronto's Kensington Marker. It was developed in 2013 as a way to reduce waste in the studio and play with improvised gestures. The process involves applying random bits of recycled glass as decoration, which means that each piece is entirely unique.

Vasarely Swish Vase

An updated iteration of a classic decorative motif from our studio. A caned and coiled vase is a long-standing, recurring decorative style over the near 50 years of our studio’s existence. Named after one of the creators of the Op-Art movement, the raked white lines on this black vase give the illusion that the shape of the vase is more rumpled than it is.

Coiled Amphora Aether vase

These cosmic looking vases are made of a reactive glass applied on a black base with interference patterns created by applying more clear glass to push the cosmic misting in improvised directions. This style is a throwback to a very early Sirius style that was very short lived and therefore very rare.

This vase is made with Uranium glass that glows under black light! The neutralized uranium is inert within glass and not radio-active.

Iridescent Nassau Cup

The original multi-colour Nassau Cup. These tumblers vary wildly and each one is a pleasure to gaze at. The decoration can range the full spectrum of opaque and transparent colours, earth tones, jewel tones, primary colour blocks, sparkly bits and mood ring areas, dots, lines and squiggles. Made by rolling random handfuls of re-purposed and recycled colourful bits onto molten glass, that is fused and formed into a cup and then iridized.
