Art
Ailene Vrana MacDougall is an Ontario-based mixed-media abstract artist creating vibrant, original artwork inspired by travel, architecture, memories and everyday discoveries. Working with acrylics, watercolours, collage and a variety of textures, she explores colour, layers and creative possibilities. Her WorldScapes™ series captures how a place feels rather than simply how it looks, while her one-of-a-kind Art Minis give new life to earlier works and artistic experiments. Her philosophy is simple: Vibrant Art for the Vibrant Soul.

Harbour Lights - North Rustico, PEI
WorldScapes™ 46.4553° N, 63.2920° W Prince Edward Island has always held a special place in our family. My husband is from Charlottetown, and his family has called the Island home for generations, giving our visits here a sense of connection that goes well beyond the landscape. In North Rustico, I was drawn to the working harbour, where boats, weathered buildings and flashes of colour tell the story of a community shaped by the sea. Harbour Light captures the warmth and colour I found along the waterfront—a familiar Island landscape seen through my own eyes.

To Thornbury - II - Along Hwy 26
WorldScapes I stopped on Hwy 26 to take the inspiration picture for this series on my way to Thornbury in January 2026. Fresh snow had just fallen and the scene was so tranquil. What emerged was a quiet winter barn built through layers of turquoise sky and textured fields. Each work in the series takes a closer look at each architectural feature.
