Artisan Profile

I was born and raised in South Korea, and graduated from the prestigious School of Fine Arts, Hongik University, in Seoul.
The main theme of my work is the healing power of a mother’s love and sacrifice, and my pottery takes its motifs from my recent series of paintings: 'Healing flower,' and 'Mother Tree.'
In my paintings I use multiple layers of acrylic-hybrid paints to achieve the effect of traditional Korean pigment-based paints, resulting in a distinctly non-western texture and palette.
My work produces an initial experience of whimsical joy within the heart, but later echoes with an undertone of wistfulness as time passes, with the non-western visual style amplifying this duality.
